# TLS 1.3

QUIC におけるトランスポートセキュリティには TLS 1.3 ([RFC 8446](https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8446)) を使用しており、暗号化されない QUIC コネクションは一切ありません。

TLS 1.3 には従来の TLS と比較していくつか利点があります。 QUIC が TLS 1.3 を使用する主な理由は、1.3からはラウンドトリップ回数が少なくなるようにハンドシェイクに変更が加えられているためです。これにより、プロトコルの待ち時間を短縮することができます。

かつて Google が提案した QUIC では独自の暗号化技術を使用していました。
